On 26th March 2017 Sevenoaks Men’s 1st XI were crowned England Hockey National Conference East Champions after a dramatic final day victory over closest rivals Teddington.  In front of a packed crowd, the two sides played out a fantastic match full of incident, with Oaks emerging victorious thanks to a winning goal by Andrew Ross in the 68th minute making it 3-2 to Sevenoaks.  In the Premier League promotion playoffs Sevenoaks won their opening game 3-2 against Bath, before securing promotion with another 3-2 against Durham with a 69th minute winner from David Smith.  As a result of this they will now compete in the England Hockey Premier League for the 2017/18 season, for the first time in the club's 105 year history.

In the Indoor format of the game, Sevenoaks have competed in the National Premier Division for the past 4 seasons.  In each of the last 3 campaigns they have finished in the top 4 of the league stage to earn themselves a spot at the showpiece England Hockey Finals Day at Wembley Arena.  Unfortunately on each occasion they have fallen at the semi-final stage to Canterbury (5-6), East Grinstead (3-6) and Surbiton (1-8) respectively.

It is an exciting time to be a part of Sevenoaks Hockey Club, particularly since the club as a whole are the reigning England Hockey Club of the Year and European Hockey Federation Club of the Year.

The team train and play on a hybrid pitch at Hollybush Lane, and whilst this is widely regarded as one of the best playing surfaces in the local area, it is due to be re-surfaced over the summer.  Duncan Parnis has been 1st XI player-coach and Director of Coaching, overseeing the coaching across the club, for 3 seasons now, during which time the 1st XI has been promoted as unbeaten champions of the South Premier League, finished a credible 3rd in their first season back in the National League and most recently finished as Champions of the National Conference East.  Duncan brings copious amounts of experience, structure and professionalism to the club as we look to secure Premier League status outdoors and push for Wembley honours indoors.

The team is blessed with a number of talented players and with an average age of only 25, the future looks very bright! The current squad contains Richard Potton, who has represented England A in goal and George Torry, Chris Barker, Nick Barker, Tom Samuel, Jack Valentine and Max Denniff who have all earned international honours at junior levels.  Alongside them player coach Duncan Parnis has played and coached the England Mixed side.  If you would be interested in joining us, please get in touch with any of the below contacts.  We’d love to have you along!
